The Green Staging Professional™ (GSP) designation is the premier designation for communicating knowledge and expertise in Green Staging.  We provide the educational tools and resources that teach professionals how to Green Stage homes.

What is Green Staging?

Green staging is the process of identifying and creating green features in homes that appeal to homebuyers who want to save money and desire a healthier home to live in. Green staging adds a new element to the home staging process. In addition to the aesthetic, economic, and functional considerations taken into account when prepping a home for sale, green staging emphasizes sustainable practices that consider the long term consequences of products and practices as well.

A Green Staging Professional™ will view the home from a whole-house approach understanding that factors such as environmental and health considerations must be examined in addition to what is appealing.  The result is a home that reflects not only beauty and allure but environmental stewardship and occupant health.

A green staged home brings many benefits that may not otherwise have existed.  Realtors gain a significant marketing advantage for the home, homebuyers are informed of the health, environmental, and economic advantages of the home, and the home’s carbon footprint is decreased, which is beneficial to us all.  All of these factors are intended to increase the value of the home and/or sell it faster.

Most green homes are new construction homes.  Since new homes are built from scratch, builders have the opportunity to create many green features in the home, including the use of rapidly renewing materials and double-paned windows.  In addition, they are able to strategically build the home to yield the most amount of daylight, which will reduce energy costs.  However, existing homes can embody many green features as well.  While the structure of the home can not necessarily change, there are many strategies and products that can be integrated into the home to make the home “greener” and reduce its carbon footprint.  Many of these changes do not require a significant investment.  Green Staging Professionals™ are utilized for their expertise on which features to create and how to create them.

Emerging demand for green homes is changing the way all homes are designed, built, remodeled and sold.  All professionals involved in the home selling process need to adapt their skills and knowledge so they are familiar with the green home features that appeal to homebuyers.  A Green Staging Professional™ possesses this knowledge and is skilled at presenting their client’s home in a way that emphasizes the green features that homebuyers desire.

What does a Green Staging Professional™do?

A Green Staging Professional™ aids a homeowner in creating the green features in their home that buyers are looking for including energy and water efficiency, quality indoor air, and a lower carbon footprint.  Green Staging Professionals™ know which existing features of the home to distinguish as “green” that will ultimately enhance the home’s marketing appeal.

Why become a Green Staging Professional™?

Due to rising demand for green homes and green features, existing home owners need to create and advertise the green features of their home in order to remain competitive in the housing market.

Homebuyers are becoming more aware of the benefits of green homes such as their energy efficient features, which yield cost savings for the homeowner. Buyers desire these green features as the benefits become more obvious.

Due to this demand, homeowners need expert guidance on how to cater to this rapidly rising market when they choose to sell their home.  If homeowners do not adapt, they may find it increasingly difficult to sell their home, especially in today’s competitive housing market.  Green Staging Professionals™ service this market by providing the service of green staging to their clients.

We have created a training curriculum and support structure to aid you in providing this service.  The Green Staging Professional™ designation is a standard in the industry that proves you are knowledgeable in green staging and are able to create green features in a home that will ultimately add value and / or reduce time on market.

Becoming a Green Staging Professional™ will add a competitive edge to your staging business by giving you the knowledge to advise your clients on how to make their home eco-friendly. Even if a client is not interested in investing in upgrades or products to make their home environmentally friendly, many existing homes already have features that can be marketed as green.  They may just be difficult to recognize.  We will teach you what to look for when staging a home so you can recognize these existing green features for the homeowner.  We will also teach you ways you can reduce the carbon footprint of your staging business.  Reusable materials, recycled and salvaged props, proper waste reduction practices, and green decorating strategies are just a few of the topics we will cover in the training course to help you make your staging business sustainable.

Upon completing the course, we will also provide you with the following resources as a supplement to your training:

  • A green staging checklist that can be used as a guide during your staging consultations.  It will provide you an itemized list of green features to look for in the home.
